Thicket Priory Wedding: Rachael & Kyle
Thicket priory wedding photography and videography by Studio Lester. In our latest blog post, we celebrate Rachael and Kyle’s big day at Yorkshire’s most exciting, luxury wedding venue.
Set within 18 acres of stunning Yorkshire countryside, complete with 35 ensuite bedrooms, a magnificent ballroom and its own private chapel - it’s no surprise that Thicket Priory is a venue that’s got Yorkshire wedding photographers and videographers talking.
As one of the first photography and videography outfits booked to shoot a wedding at Thicket Priory, myself and Bhavna Barratt were beyond excited to get to work. Making the day even more special, we were working alongside two of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet - Rachael and Kyle, the new Mr and Mrs Hipperson.
The day started at 07:30, with the first priority being drone videography. With misty morning skies and radiant winter sunlight bathing the venue, the views from 400ft were truly breathtaking. perfectly setting the scene for the day ahead.
As the bride and groom had booked the entire venue - including each of its 35 en-suite bedrooms - we were then lucky enough to join Rachael and her bridal party as they prepped hair, make-up and nails in a room filled with natural light. Minutes later, the groom’s party arrived, allowing both Bhav and I time to capture Kyle and his groomsmen as they donned their suits for the day.
The day then moved into the second phase as the bride and groom readied themselves for the journey to the church. Joined by an emotional Father of the Bride, Rachael travelled in a stunning Rolls Royce Silver Cloud - a wonderful classic car belonging to the venue.
With the ceremony taking place at Brayton village church, the couple were met by a host of adoring wedding guests before saying their vows. Moments later, the couple were back outside for the all-important confetti shot, before family members joined the happy couple for a number of portraits outside the histroric church.
Needless to say, Rachael looked absolutely stunning in her wedding dress - a high neck piece featuring a cathedral length veil, supplied by Chloe Jane Bridalwear.
Moving back to Thicket Priory, it was our suggestion that the happy couple enjoy some time with their guests before readying themselves for group shots. Having been blessed with dry conditions, the venue’s garden made the perfect location for both the bridesmaids and groomsmen’s photos, as well as a number of lovely family portraits.
Despite the day being the first time Bhav and I had worked together, the pairing worked brilliantly - with Bhavna’s calming presence allowing everyone involved in the shoot to feel at ease in front of the camera as I worked the gimbal and drone.
With natural sunlight fading, we quickly moved from group shots to couple shots, with Rachael and Kyle proving to be absolute naturals.
Encouraged to use the time away from the main wedding party to take stock of the occasion and enjoy a rare moment of quiet, both Bhav and I prompted the couple to take a walk down a country lane leading to the venue - setting the scene for some of my favourite pictures of the day.
Following a short break as the wedding guests enjoyed a hearty meal, speeches - delivered by the Father of the Bride, Kyle and his Best Man - were enjoyed by all, providing the perfect soundbite for the couple’s highlight film and trailers.
Above us, grey clouds were replaced by a cold, dark night - setting the scene perfectly for some romantic shots of Rachael and Kyle in the bandstand, located in the rear garden of Thicket Priory.
Rounding off the day, the couple enjoyed a relaxed first dance before inviting guests to enjoy their evening playing shuffleboard, dancing and partying into the night.
